MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Tens of civilians, many of them women and children fleeing Islamist violence, were killed Thursday in a suicide attack in the Abu Fas area in the northeastern Hasaka province, state media has said.
The government-run SANA news agency said a Daesh terrorist detonated a car bomb at a gathering of refugees from the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor.
Reuters citing a medical source in the Kurdish Red Crescent reports that the death toll in the Daesh attack mounted to at least 50 people.
A SANA reporter said panicked people ran to the nearby fields for fear of more blasts where hidden landmines planted by Islamists went off, killing and injuring many others.
